School Enrolment Scheme Ministry of Education

Enrolment at School

Children can only be formally enrolled at school once they turn 5 years of age. All children on enrolment require verification of their date of birth – we will take a copy of their birth certificate or passport

As we operate an enrolment scheme, all parents/caregivers enrolling children need to provide the school with proof of address as evidence that your house is in our school's zone. If the house is owned, either a Council Rates Bill or Mortgage Agreement needs to be provided. If the house is being rented, a Tenancy Agreement will need to be sighted. If there is a situation where someone is residing in a home without either owning or renting the property, legal documentation provided by the school will need to be completed, and also signed by a Justice of the Peace.

In-Zone Enrolment

All students who live within the home zone described below shall be entitled to enrol at the school.

The Home Zone begins at the junction of SH20 Redoubt Road and SH1.  It continues east along Redoubt Road, incorporating all odd numbered addresses up to and including number 143.  The zone continues south through Totara Park to the Auckland Regional Botanical Gardens then west to SH1.  The zone moves north on SH1 until meeting up with SH20 and Redoubt Road. You can view our school's enrolment zone by accessing this webpage.

Proof of residence within the home zone will be required (see details above).

To enrol at our school, parents must first complete the online enrolment form. You will then be invited for a face to face interview with a member of the Executive Team (principal or one of the deputy principals). Please read the instructions on the form carefully as it reiterates which documents you will be required to provide for the enrolment process to be completed.

Special Information for Parents of 5 Year Olds

Children who are turning five should be enrolled online six months before their fifth birthday. Once this is done, children and parents will be invited to our 'Transition to School' sessions in the term before they start. Taking part in the 'Transition to School' process gives you and your child a better understanding of how school works, thereby making it easier to get your child's schooling underway when the 'big day' comes.

No child will be able to start without a face to face interview (which usually occurs at these Transition Sessions).

Out-of-Zone Application Form

Everglade Primary School operates under a Ministry of Education enrolment scheme. If you reside outside our designated home zone, you must submit an Out-of-Zone application for your child to be considered for placement.

At present, the School Board is accepting applications exclusively for children who are turning 5 years old and have not yet enrolled at another school. If your 5-year-old applicant has older siblings, you may include them in your application. If your 5-year-old gains a place through the ballot, their older siblings will be accepted as well.

Important Note for Existing Out-of-Zone Families

If you already have children attending Everglade Primary School but reside outside the home zone, younger siblings do not receive automatic enrolment. You must apply through the standard out-of-zone application process, and entry will be subject to the ballot if application numbers exceed available places.

Application Status

The Out-of-Zone application period for the upcoming intake is now closed. Applications will reopen next year.

If you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact the school office.
